A Passion for Women's Health
With over 10 years of experience as a healthcare practitioner, Dr. Anna Boetto (Chinese medicine), the founder, has developed a passion for women’s health. This emerged after recognising the essential support required by women throughout their health journeys.
Anna understands that education and empowerment are pivotal elements to help women discover their health and inner strength and attain their aspirations, whether it’s achieving better energy, hormonal balance, improved mental health, enhanced fertility, or overall well being.
Vital Qi provides tools to support individuals in achieving their specific health goals. Our purpose is to ensure that you feel empowered regarding your health journey.
Dr. Anna Boetto is an AHPRA registered, university trained Chinese medicine and acupuncture practitioner and functional medicine practitioner with more than 10 years experience. Anna completed two Masters of Applied Science degrees in Chinese Medicine at RMIT: the Masters in Chinese Herbal medicine and the Masters of Acupuncture. She studied her undergraduate Bachelor of Health Science degree in functional medicine (Naturopathy).
Inspired by the seamless incorporation of Chinese and Western medicine experienced during her internships at Nanjing Provincial University and Qinhuai Hospitals in Nanjing China, Anna is motivated by this approach to bring integration into clinical practice, ensuring a patient centred model. She values the contribution of different systems of medicine and is passionate about assimilating these modalities for the betterment of her patient’s health.
Anna continues to develop knowledge through ongoing post-graduate studies and has a special interest in women’s health with individual in-clinic mentoring from Steven Clavey in fertility and gynaecology. Other areas of interest include musculoskeletal pain, including pre- and post-operative management, neurological disease, and mental health, particularly stress and anxiety.

Chinese medicine herbal consultations can be conducted in the clinic or telehealth, and typically involve a series of questions aimed at determining a Chinese medicine diagnosis. Acupuncture is conducted in-person, and it is best to wear loose, comfortable clothing. In most cases you will not need to disrobe but the area treated will be uncovered briefly and towels are provided for your comfort.
For all consultations, if possible and readily available, it’s advisable to bring any Western medicine blood tests and exam results. Also, details such as relevant dates of your menstrual cycle, medications and / or a history of past medical conditions, are useful.
The duration of your appointment may vary based on the practitioner and the chosen treatment method. Here’s a general guideline:

Chinese herbal medicines are generally safe when prescribed by a qualified practitioner. We carefully select herbs and customize formulas based on your unique health needs to minimize the risk of side effects and consider the use of Western medicine pharmaceuticals.
Raw herbal decoctions have traditionally served as the cornerstone of Chinese Medicine, owing to their historical effectiveness and adaptability. Our Raw herb dispenser has an inventory comprising a diverse array of more than 400 distinct herbs. Drawing from this extensive selection, we meticulously formulate patient-specific prescriptions by carefully handpicking the exact herbs and their precise dosages. This personalized approach allows us to tailor treatments that align with each patient’s unique health condition.

Most patients are motivated enough by their condition to warrant giving every chance for their condition to get better and will hold their nose, or even drink it through a straw! Often, eating or drinking something straight after can help any residual taste.
Integrating traditional Chinese Medicine and naturopathy with Western medicine is possible and often encouraged. It’s essential to inform all your healthcare providers about the treatments you are receiving.
